Out of Hours Service

Phone 0800 052 0180 if you become homeless when offices are closed. They can arrange a temporary place for you to stay. They will also arrange an homeless interview the next working day.

How we they help

They may be able to:

  • stop you from losing your home
  • help you find somewhere else to live
  • offer you somewhere to live
  • contact other services who might be able to help you

They will offer you a housing interview within 2 working days. If you don’t have somewhere to stay, then they will offer you an interview that day.

Housing interview

A housing adviser will carry out interview. It should take around an hour but may take longer depending on your circumstances.

You can:

  • bring a friend, relative or adviser to the interview
  • ask for help if you have communication difficulties
  • ask for a translation service if English isn’t your first language
  • ask for a same sex officer to interview you

What happens next

They will give you a decision within 28 days. If you’ve nowhere to live, they can find you temporary accommodation while we make our decision.

ALLOCATION POLICY REVIEW

Our Policy was changed in 2019 following extensive consultation. This was due to changes contained within the Housing (Scotland) Act 2014 and also do the end of the Common housing register between East Renfrewshire Council, Barrhead Housing Association and Arklet Housing Association – which ended in February 2018. A copy of our new policy can be found within the download section of this website.

The report on the full review process can be found here
