General
Barrhead Housing Association has over 940 properties throughout East Renfrewshire. The following highlights our existing property profile. We have general housing, partially adapted/amenity housing for older people and full wheelchair adapted properties. We have turnover of about 50-60 properties per year.
Please note that we are offering the majority of our void properties to East Renfrewshire Council Local Authority to ensure that they can provide much needed urgent accommodation to those who find themselves homeless through this pandemic.

IF YOU FIND YOURSELF HOMELESS
Local Authorities have a statutory duty to help anyone who finds themselves dealing with a homeless situation.
Please is information regarding East Renfrewshire Services:
Out of Hours Service
Phone 0800 052 0180 if you become homeless when our offices are closed. They can arrange a temporary place for you to stay. They will also arrange an homeless interview the next working day.
How we they help
They may be able to:
- stop you from losing your home
- help you find somewhere else to live
- offer you somewhere to live
- contact other services who might be able to help you
They will offer you a housing interview within 2 working days. If you don’t have somewhere to stay, then they will offer you an interview that day.
Housing interview
A housing adviser will carry out interview. It should take around an hour but may take longer depending on your circumstances.
You can:
- bring a friend, relative or adviser to the interview
- ask for help if you have communication difficulties
- ask for a translation service if English isn’t your first language
- ask for a same sex officer to interview you
What happens next
They will give you a decision within 28 days. If you’ve nowhere to live, we can find you temporary accommodation while we make our decision.

ALLOCATION POLICY REVIEW
Our Policy was changed in 2019 following extensive consultation. This was due to changes contained within the Housing (Scotland) Act 2014 and also do the end of the Common housing register between East Renfrewshire Council, Barrhead Housing Association and Arklet Housing Association – which ended in February 2018.
