The Help East Renfrewshire Online (HERO) project was launched in late 2013 following a successful bid for funding from East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau in partnership with local agencies including Barrhead Housing Association. The project provides free, confidential and independent advice and support.

Universal Credit is being rolled out across the UK and claimants of benefits will be expected to apply online. Universal Credit will replace the following benefits into one single monthly lump sum payment – income based jobseekers allowance; income related jobseekers allowance; income support; child tax credits; working tax credits and housing benefit.

HERO provides a resource to help local residents – sessions are held at Auchenback Resource Centre (ARC) on a Tuesday between 10am and 1pm and at ERC offices on a Wednesday between 12-3pm. At these sessions computers and support will be available for you in order to apply for any benefit online or get help with your online job searching.   ARC is situated at 64 Aurs Drive, Barrhead and ERC offices at 211 Main Street, Barrhead. If you have any concerns or require more information on these services, please contact the HERO Project at East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau on 0141 881 3660.
