    Your rights

Your tenancy is a Scottish Secure Tenancy, which gives you rights about your tenancy and the services we must provide as your landlord. You can see full details of this in your tenancy agreement.

If you have any questions about any aspect of your tenancy, please contact your local customer services officer or contact us at enquiries@barrheadha.org.

    Your responsibilities

Along with your rights, you also have responsibilities. We expect you to pay your rent on time and in full. We also expect you to take care of your home, reporting repairs as soon as possible and taking care not to damage your home or common areas.

We are required by law to complete an annual gas safety check at your home. It's your responsibility to give our contractors access at least once a year so we can meet this and other obligations.

We also expect you to respect your neighbours by not making excessive noise or acting in any way that could be considered anti-social.

    Moving into your new home

Our homes are offered unfurnished, which means you will need to furnish them with floor coverings, furniture and white goods such as washing machines and cookers. There is some support available with East Renfrewshire Council for those who cannot afford to furnish their homes through the Scottish Welfare Fund.

We do not charge deposits for your tenancy, but we do charge rent from the start of your tenancy which should be paid in advance.

    Living in your home

We hope you enjoy living in your home and that you feel safe and secure. If anything goes wrong, please get in touch straight away to report a repair, an issue with your neighbourhood or anything else so we can guide you in the right direction for help and support.

    Changing your details

We know that life never stands still and that your household may change over time. If that does happen, please let us know as soon as possible as we need to know everyone who is living in your home. When your home becomes too small or too big for you and your household, please speak to us to see if we can find a solution for your housing needs.

    Ending your tenancy

We hope it’s a long time before you choose to leave us, but when you decide to move on let us know as soon as possible. We will normally require four weeks’ notice before we can end your tenancy. This allows us time to check if any repairs are outstanding and to help you make arrangements to settle your rent account.

We expect your home to cleared of all your belongings and to be clean and tidy before you end your tenancy.

If you are thinking of ending your tenancy, please contact us at enquiries@barrheadha.org.
